Splash Meet Manager software will be used to manage the meet. The secondary pool will serve as a warm-up and warm-down pool during the whole duration of the meet.<\/p>\n<h2>Sanction and Regulations<\/h2>\n<p>The competition will be sanctioned by the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration de natation du Qu\u00e9bec (36140). The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fina.org\/rules\/fina-regulations-participants\">F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de Natation (FINA) regulations<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimming.ca\/content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Swimming-Canada-Masters-Rules-Guidelines-for-officials-FR-2019-10.pdf\">rules for master swimmers from Swimming Canada<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fnq.qc.ca\/disciplines\/disciplines-reglements\/\">FNQ regulation on pool security<\/a> (available in French only, our apologies) as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimming.ca\/en\/resources\/officiating\/rules-and-forms\/competition-warm-up-safety-procedures\/\">FNQ warm-up safety procedures<\/a>, will be in effect during the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Starts will be performed from the starting blocks according to the rules FINA FR 2.3 and SW 4.1.<\/p>\n<p>Bathing caps are recommended. Individual races and relays will be swum as timed finals, from slowest to fastest, regardless of age or sex &#8211; except for event 14, which will be swum from fastest to slowest. Swim lanes will be seeded according to submitted entry times. Heat lists for relays will be published as soon as they are ready. These lists will be posted on the wall in the shallow end; coaches and team representatives can obtain copies at the Clerk of Course\u2019s table.<\/p>\n<p>With the exception of the backstroke events, we ask swimmers to remain in the water at the end of their event and to exit from the sides of the pool after the start of the following heat. An athlete who does not show up for the start of an event will be excluded from that event only; he or she will not be allowed to make up the event unless an error has been committed by an official.<\/p>\n<h2>Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>All swimmers must be affiliated with the FNQ or with a swimming federation recognized by FINA and be at least 18 years of age by November 13, 2021. Swimmers who are not affiliated with the FNQ (i.e., swimmers from outside the province of Quebec) must be covered by their federation\u2019s accident insurance or a private insurance policy. In the latter case, they will have to show a certificate of proof at registration.<\/p>\n<h2>Relays<\/h2>\n<p>Relay team members must belong to the same club and be duly registered in the competition. Relay teams with athletes from different clubs are not allowed to compete unless they get special approval from the meet manager. In that case, they will compete in the \u2018exhibition\u2019 category and times from swimmers will not be recognized. Relay teams can be male, female, or mixed. Mixed relay teams are made up of two women and two men who may swim in any order. Relay cards must be submitted to the clerk of course <strong>by the end of event 2 (50 m butterfly)<\/strong> for event 7 (4 x 50 m freestyle relay), and <strong>by the end of event 4 (50 m freestyle)<\/strong> for event 8 (4 x 50 m IM relay). No swimmer may be a member of more than one team per relay event.<\/p>\n<h2>Age Categories<\/h2>\n<p>Age categories will be determined by the age swimmers will be on December 31, 2021. Age groups for individual events will cover 5-year periods with the exception of the youngest group, which ranges from 18 to 24.<\/p>\n<p>The age group for a relay team is determined by totaling the ages in whole years of all 4 team members as of December 31, 2017. Age groups for relays will cover periods of 40 years with the exception of the first two groups, which range from 72 to 99 years, and from 100 to 119 years, respectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Individual events:<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Relay events (total age of four members):<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">72-99, 100-119, 120-159, 160-199, 200-239, 240-279, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Quebec Cup<\/h2>\n<p>The cumulative points for each teams for the first round of the master swimmers Quebec Cup will be held by the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration de natation du Qu\u00e9bec (FNQ). The winning teams, for the overall rounds of the Quebec Cup will be awarded at the Gala des Ma\u00eetres-nageurs du Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n<h2>Warm-up \/ warm-down<\/h2>\n<p>Two warm-up periods have been planned on the day of the meet. If necessary, a schedule for the official warm-up periods will be established for participating teams. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fnq.qc.ca\/disciplines\/disciplines-reglements\/\">FNQ regulation on pool security<\/a> (available in French only, our apologies) as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimming.ca\/en\/resources\/officiating\/rules-and-forms\/competition-warm-up-safety-procedures\/\">FNQ warm-up safety procedures<\/a> will be in effect during the meet. <b>No jumping or diving will be allowed during the warm-up, except in designated lanes. Swimmers must enter the pool gently with one hand on the pool edge or bulkhead at all times.<\/b><br \/>\nAny infractions of these regulations may be subject to sanctions. Coaches are responsible for supervising their athletes throughout the warm-ups. Diving will not be permitted throughout the warm-up period. The south part of the pool will also be available at all times during the meet, unless the maximum capacity of the pool has been reached. Details will be given at the technical meeting.<\/p>\n<h2>Awards<\/h2>\n<p>Awards for <i>La Coupe de Montr\u00e9al<\/i> will be given out on Saturday evening or sent by mail. The team with the most points will win the Coupe de Montr\u00e9al des ma\u00eetres nageurs (certificate in lieu of trophy). In addition, awards of distinction will be given in the following categories: team of six or more that has accumulated the greatest number of points per swimmer; male swimmer with the most points; female swimmer with the most points.<\/p>\n<h2>Scoring<\/h2>\n<h3>Individual Events<\/h3>\n<p>1st place: 7 points; 2nd: 5 pts; 3rd: 4 pts; 4th: 3 pts; 5th: 2 pts; 6th: 1 pt.<\/p>\n<h3>Relay Events (only for La Coupe de Montr\u00e9al)<\/h3>\n<p>1st place: 14 points; 2nd: 10 pts; 3rd: 8 pts; 4th: 6 pts; 5th: 4 pts; 6th: 2 pts.<\/p>\n<h2>Results<\/h2>\n<p>Results will be posted on the <a href=\"http:\/\/acontrecourant.qc.ca\/en\/coupe\">\u00c0 Contre-Courant website<\/a> as well as on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimming.ca\/en\/events-results\/live-upcoming-meets\/\">Swimming Canada results site<\/a> no later than 8 days after the meet.
